[About the Works of Kazuo Kamimura] Kazuo Kamimura (上村一夫), born in 1940 in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, graduated from the Design Department of Musashino Art University and made his debut as a manga artist in 1967. He left behind numerous masterpieces, including Lorsque nous vivions ensemble, Lady Snowblood, and The Shinano River, before passing away in 1986 at the young age of 45. Even today, more than 40 years after his death, his refined and distinctive body of work continues to receive high acclaim both in Japan and internationally. Originally aspiring to be an illustrator, Kamimura handled magazine covers, record jackets, and similar commissions entirely on his own—without assistants—completing even the coloring himself. These works possess a unique level of completeness and charm as standalone images, distinct from his manga. This piece is based on one of those valuable original illustrations, which has been digitized using the latest technology and carefully restored to repair damage caused by age.
